Newcastle Town Football Club

Sausages and football – a winning combination.

Newcastle Town Football Club, officially established in 1984, have a long and valued relationship with James T Blakemans, which runs back to this timeframe. The club plays at Step 4 of the National League system, two promotions away from Conference football and resides in the Lyme Valley area of Newcastle-under-Lyme. In addition to this, the club has a long history with youth development with many former players now playing professionally and the club running a mega 40 juniors team from ages 6 upwards. Club Director, Gavin Appleby said;

“It was Mr Blakeman that started the relationship with the club, which has remained ever since, with Jim as Club President. The support and sponsorship from Blakemans over many years has allowed us to not only improve the facilities but to survive as a non-league club.”

The Blakeman family are incredibly proud of their affiliation with the club, especially their dedication towards improving the clubs facilities and infrastructure; providing a healthy and vibrant club for their players and local community and the work they’ve put into becoming a fantastic nursery for nurturing local, young footballing talent. Mr Blakeman said:

“I am delighted to be able to continue to support the club as it is something which is very close to my heart. I became involved with Newcastle Town because they were the closest non-league club to me and I had friends there at the time. I have always been a keen football fan, I once played on Stoke City’s junior team.”

Due to the Covid-19 virus, football at non-league level has ground to a halt. This hasn’t stopped the club from progressing though as they have recently renovated the grounds and installed additional floodlights which are now up there with the best in the league and have plans to expand the clubhouse in the future. The club is currently renovating it’s cafe to make it fit for a modern 21st century football stadium and, when they can see a return to match days, they’ll be sure to have Blakemans sausages on sale at the ground!

A real shining light throughout these tough times has been the creation of a foodbank at the club, which has helped to feed many families during this tough pandemic.
