The Blakeman family decided that their 70th anniversary in business was the ideal opportunity to bring back their annual family fun for the first time since 2019.

Organised by the Blakemans Improvement Group (BIG), the day was open to all Blakemans staff, their friends and families and aimed to raise money for CRY (Cardiac Risk in the Young) in memory of Dave Barlow, a colleague and friend who sadly passed away at just 30 years of age….

Warboys Community Bonfire

The community of Warboys, a village in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire have reignited their bonfire night celebrations after a year off and returned with a bang.

The 2021 return saw Pamela Hicks and Pat Collins who organised event (with the help of family and friends) raise just over £6000. The money is being spread throughout the community’s services and events seeing their Doctors surgery, primary school, play group, Christmas lights

Charity Quiz Nights

Blakemans’ training manager, Jason Whitehurst, turns quiz master to entertain and raise much needed funds for charity.

We take a minute to applaud Jason for his online charity quiz on the run-up to its 12-month anniversary. With humble beginnings as a fun way to interact with his friends whilst furloughed, it has ended up as a weekly source of entertainment for countless households throughout the lockdowns and isolation of 2020.

Equal Chances Christmas Donations

When a plea for help came in to provide local young people of Stoke-on-Trent who are leaving the social care system with some Christmas joy, the Colleagues at Blakemans heard the call, donned their Santa hats and jumped into action.

Back at the beginning of November, a plea came from the local council on behalf of Equal Chances, the Lord Mayors Charity (charity number 238156). They had been donated 222 empty Christmas gift boxes.

Newcastle Town Football Club

Sausages and football – a winning combination.

Newcastle Town Football Club, officially established in 1984, have a long and valued relationship with James T Blakemans, which runs back to this timeframe. The club plays at Step 4 of the National League system, two promotions away from Conference football and resides in the Lyme Valley area of Newcastle-under-Lyme. In addition to this, the club has a long history with youth development with many former players now playing professionally.
