Blakemans have had a long-standing relationship with the National Fish & Chip awards, having sponsored the Staff Training and Development award for many years. 2024 was no exception and a few members of the team took the trip to the Park Plaza on Westminster bridge to support the event and their colleague James, in presenting the prestigious title.

The Blakeman family have a huge regard for the hard working and dedicated people of the fish & chip industry and have chosen to continue to celebrate them by sponsoring the staff training and development award again this year.

Having over 300 staff, the Blakeman team are acutely aware of the impact of training on the workforce. James Morris, Head of Business Development said;

“Staff training and development has been at the core of Blakemans’ ethos since the very beginning. Our staff and their skill sets are the most valuable resource that we have as a business. The investments that we continue to make into our people have an important role in Blakemans success.

This award is a fantastic way for us to reward the dedication of establishments which have devoted time, effort and investment into their most important asset – their staff! It’s always a pleasure to sponsor this award and to recognise the hard work of these industry leading businesses.”

The awards, hosted by Rob Beckett, were attended by over 600 guests from fish & chip business owners, to industry partners and sponsors.  A heavily anticipated event, the ceremony celebrates business excellence throughout the fish & chip industry. The finalists for the staff training and development award were Haven Cooks (multisite), Eric’s Fish & Chips (Hunstanton) and The Real Food Café (Tyndrum). The Real Food Café from Tyndrum in Scotland took the win, James added;

“It was an honour and a privilege to be able to play a part in the judging process again this year. The finalists did not make it an easy decision to reach as each demonstrated dedication and focus towards developing their teams.

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Sarah and her team from the Real Food Café and to wish all of the finalists my best for the coming year”
